The DP World Tour has made the exciting announcement that the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters will be returning to the schedule this year, and the event is set to be held at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in October.
Taking place between October 19-22, this year’s tournament represents the ninth edition of this storied event. It follows the Open de Espana presented by Madrid, and both events will offer prize purses of $3.25 million. These Race to Dubai events hold added significance as they take place just a few weeks prior to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. So, players will be vying to secure maximum points to try to earn their spot in the season finale.
Established in 1964 by the renowned golf course designer, Robert Trent Jones, the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande stands as a testament to his design mastery. Notably, this course holds the distinction of being his inaugural European design, holding a cherished place among the extensive portfolio of 500 courses he crafted.
Positioned a mere 200 yards away from the Mediterranean, it is characterised by broad fairways that are complemented by strategically positioned bunkers. Elevated greens with generous swales define its landscape, creating a formidable challenge that will test the DP World Tour’s best players later this year.
Sotogrande is one of Europe’s most popular golfing destinations, and has already attracted keen golf fans to the region once this year, as the LIV Golf series visited Real Club Valderrama. So, the excitement will continue later this year when the community once again have the opportunity to enjoy world-class golf in Sotogrande.
