Sotogrande celebrates its 64th Anniversary

Sotogrande celebrates its 64th Anniversary and launches the “Sotogrande Positive Impact Awards” to recognise people and organisations contributing to progress in the Campo de Gibraltar.

For more than six decades, Sotogrande has been synonymous with visionary planning, quality living and a deep connection to its natural surroundings. This year, the destination marked an important milestone, celebrating its 64th Anniversary while reinforcing its commitment to the future through the launch of the Sotogrande Positive Impact Awards, a new initiative recognising individuals and organisations making a meaningful contribution to the development of San Roque and the Campo de Gibraltar.

A Celebration of Community, Progress and Shared Success

Held at The Beach, La Reserva Club, the anniversary event brought together representatives from public institutions, local businesses, the voluntary sector, sports organisations and the wider Sotogrande community. The annual gathering serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the people and organisations that have helped shape Sotogrande’s international reputation and ongoing success.

More than a celebration of its history, the event reflected on Sotogrande’s role as a catalyst for economic growth, employment and opportunity across the region.

A Model for Sustainable Growth in Andalusia

A key theme throughout the evening was the importance of sustainable and responsible growth. During the event, institutional representatives highlighted the need for tourism destinations to focus not only on expansion, but also on creating lasting value for residents, businesses and the environment.

Sotogrande was recognised as an example of this balanced approach, successfully combining international appeal with strong local roots, investment with quality of life, and economic development with environmental stewardship.

The celebration also underscored the long-standing relationship between Sotogrande, San Roque and the surrounding Campo de Gibraltar, acknowledging the generations of local families, professionals and businesses whose contribution has been fundamental to the destination’s development.

Introducing the Sotogrande Positive Impact Awards

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Sotogrande Positive Impact Awards, created to honour individuals, businesses and organisations whose work is helping to build a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable future for the region.

The awards span five categories designed to showcase excellence across culture, sport, business and community engagement. The trophies, created by artist Ariel Elizondo, celebrate the talent, innovation and commitment that continue to drive positive change throughout the Campo de Gibraltar.
