A look ahead to professional golf in Sotogrande in 2024

Sotogrande is preparing for a busy 2024 with two major professional events heading to town.

The estate will play host to the Andalucia Masters on the DP World Tour, one of the last events before the season-ending DP World Tour Championship event in Dubai. This will be the second year running that the Andalucia Masters will take place at Real Club Sotogrande, Spain’s no.2 ranked golf course. Adrian Meronk was the winner on the DP World Tour in October last year, shooting a Sunday 66 with two eagles and six birdies to finish one stroke ahead of his competitors

This summer, the LIV Golf series will once again tee it up at Real Club Valderrama, the no.1 ranked course in Spain and one of Europe’s very best, with the 48-man field playing three rounds from July 12th-14th. This follows on from a successful 2023 event, won by Talor Gooch. The former Ryder Cup host venue is one of the world’s most recognisable golf courses. The immaculate fairways, charming backdrop and tricky greens deliver one of the game’s toughest and most revered tests.

In the 2023 event, Talor Gooch continued his fine run of form, carding 12-under par over the three rounds and securing the individual title at LIV Valderrama, with his team finishing in second place. Joaquin Niemann led the way for Torque GC to win another team title, finishing at -16 and winning by five.

Looking Ahead

Sotogrande looks forward to hosting two top quality professional events once again in 2024 and welcoming the world’s best golfers to the region.

The DP World Tour schedule includes 44 tournaments across 24 countries and 5 continents. The ‘European Swing’ runs from May to July 2024, before entering the ‘Back Nine’ phase which includes the Estrella Damn Andalucia Masters in October.

The landscape of professional golf has shifted significantly – Adrian Meronk is teeing it up on the LIV Golf tour, and so won’t be defending his title at the Andalucia Masters. LIV has since expanded significantly and multiple past champions from the Andalucia Masters will instead be playing in LIV Golf Valderrama, such as Graeme McDowell, Sergio Garcia and Meronk. LIV Golf have taken on golfers like Meronk, adding reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm to the roster and pulling Anthony Kim out of retirement as a wildcard pick. Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Joaquin Niemann and Bryson DeChambeau are just a few of the other world-class players who will be competing in Sotogrande in July.

Included with ticket purchases is access to watch not only the golf, but also live music on the main stage. For more information and to get tickets for the event, visit:
