These Christmas activities are part of the 60th anniversary celebration of Sotogrande. The Marina, the Christmas epicenter of Sotogrande

Sotogrande will kick off the Christmas season on December 3rd, when the Christmas spirit will invade every corner of Sotogrande with the official lighting ceremony —starting at 6:30 p.m.— of a majestic seven-meter tree that will envelop attendees in a festive atmosphere. A light show that will become an unforgettable sensory experience, accompanied by the students of Sotogrande International School, who will sing a selection of the most emotive Christmas classics for the delight of the audience.

The lighting ceremony will be the culmination of the first Christmas day, starting with one of the most attractive Sunday markets in the region —from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—, the Sunday market of La Marina. This stylish and charming meeting point in the region will be infused with the Christmas spirit, featuring a complete program for the whole family.

With the hope that this Christmas will be special for those who need it most, the Christmas Market of La Marina will host a toy collection campaign on December 10th —from 10 a.m.— encouraging the Sotogrande community to share the generous spirit of Christmas by donating toys to the Nuevo Hogar Betania association. These toys will be destined for families in situations of social exclusion, ensuring that every needy child can experience the joy of receiving a gift during the holidays.

Sotogrande also wants to help pets in need of a home; therefore, it has invited the Melampo Protectora from San Roque to be present with some of the “pups” in need of foster care or adoption. The organization will also sell ideal accessories for the “furry” members of the household.

The first Christmas tree decorated with shoes

SO/ SOTOGRANDE and the renowned Spanish footwear brand Flabelus create the first Christmas tree adorned with shoes. SO/ reinforces its connection with the world of style and trends through this collaboration where fashion becomes the best complement for Christmas. Dynamic and participatory Christmas workshops

Sotogrande will inaugurate the Christmas season with various workshops and experiences that will take place in the most emblematic places of Sotogrande and will be aimed at the whole family.

On December 2nd and 14th at the Hotel SO/ SOTOGRANDE SPA & GOLF RESORT, a workshop on creating the most spectacular centerpieces will be organized. Designed to inspire creativity and provide participants with the necessary skills to transform any occasion into a visually stunning experience. This workshop will explore innovative techniques in creating centerpieces that suit different styles and occasions.

In addition, the little ones in the house can decorate their Christmas bauble in a fun and creative Christmas workshop, where the Christmas magic will come true through the hands of the main protagonists of these special dates. Children will have the opportunity to design their own Christmas baubles, turning them into a special keepsake that will adorn their Christmas tree and symbolize the joy of the season.

Fun at Christmas with the Elves

The little ones are the absolute protagonists of these festive days. Therefore, on Sundays, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th —between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.— while adults enjoy the legendary Levante Market, children can enjoy a varied offer of creative workshops with Christmas elves in a magical booth set up in La Ribera del Marlin. Musical workshops, decorations, storytelling, magic, or face painting are just some of the activities in a complete program designed for the little ones. On December 17th, in addition, the little ones will be able to meet Santa Claus and his helpers to give them their letters.

Likewise, the Foodisiac restaurant, from the heart of the Sotogrande Port, will also host several workshops for the whole family. On the afternoon of December 16th, the magic of Professor Mad will arrive at their gourmet space to surprise both adults and children. On December 23rd, there will be a fun pastry workshop for children. Sotogrande’s “mini chefs” will learn all the secrets to prepare the sweetest and most delicious cupcakes. Both will take place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and do not require a reservation. For the gourmands, on December 30th, the Champagne Afternoon Tea will be celebrated to taste a selection of Champagnes and high homemade pastries.

Levante Market, the nerve center of Sotogrande, will be infused with Christmas magic on a beautiful night for the whole family, with a special dinner that adds to the great evenings scheduled for these dates. The Fresco Marina gastro bar will host a Carol Night with the voices of the talented Sotogrande choir in a new Candlelight format: an intimate performance by candlelight. A magical Christmas proposal at The Beach

December 16th is one of the most special days in Sotogrande’s vibrant Christmas proposal. Specifically, at The Beach, another exciting and dynamic workshop will begin: “Art & Wine Workshop.” The artist from Algeciras, Juan Sierra, will teach a workshop on expressionist and impressionist painting, the two styles from which he approaches his abstract creations revolving around portraits and bullfighting paintings. The creative process will be accompanied by a sensory journey, tasting a pairing of Andalusian wines designed for the occasion. Another participatory experience that will immerse participants in a work that leaves no one indifferent.

Santa Claus parks the sleigh and arrives by boat at La Reserva de Sotogrande

The impressive The Beach, at La Reserva Club de Sotogrande, is an inimitable setting created to relax, socialize, and enjoy the best gastronomy. A plan designed to live unique and memorable experiences at any time of the year, and, of course, also at Christmas. Santa Claus himself will leave his unexpected sleigh to arrive at The Beach on an impressive wooden boat that will approach him through the sports lagoon to “fish” the letters from the little ones.

Christmas Tournament in Sotogrande, the legendary home of golf

This Christmas, a golf tournament could not be missing from Sotogrande’s Christmas agenda, the home of historic golf courses such as the Almenara Sotogrande Golf Club. A haven of peace and serenity with its two large lakes surrounded by cork oaks and olive trees, featuring a 27-hole course created by the famous British designer Dave Thomas. The course, with views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains, poses a real challenge for golfers of all levels, thanks to its deep bunkers, water hazards, rolling hills, and zigzagging fairways. A challenge that participants in this Christmas edition will face, with prizes for the longest drive and the closest ball.

The Beach becomes an even more picturesque setting on Christmas Day. On December 25th, The Beach will offer its traditional Christmas Brunch with live music. Forget about cooking that day and simply enjoy a complete and unlimited brunch with your family.

On the gastronomic front, SO/Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort maintains its culinary offering based on local and seasonal produce for Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year, taking into account the classic dishes of these dates and a selection of local wines. Specifically, it will celebrate the last day of the year by offering a tasting dinner with pairings and traditional products served at Cortijo Santamaría 1962.

The experience is a four-handed proposal designed by Nicolas Isnard (*Michelin) and Leandro Caballero at Cortijo Santa María. The dinner begins at IXO Tapas & Bar with a welcome cocktail and a selection of fifteen gastronomic delights. Later, a six-course menu will be enjoyed at Cortijo Santa María, featuring different dishes such as Iberian pork tenderloin nougat, foie gras nuggets, and winter fruit; Roasted lobster in Josper, celery, coconut and lime risotto; lemon sorbet and Gaugin; Capon Supreme with Morilés, and fregola with porcini mushrooms and truffle sauce. To finish, a Mont Blanc, passion fruit, and pineapple. All paired with local references and including a selection of Christmas desserts and the twelve lucky grapes. Afterward, you can enjoy fireworks and dancing with live music.

To complete the day, the authentic Sunday Roast is always a classic option elevated to culinary perfection. To welcome the New Year, on January 1st, you can enjoy the elegant and tasty New Year’s Roast at the SO/SOTOGRANDE SPA & GOLF RESORT and its Society Club House restaurant. The iconic British dish will consist of an Avocado and Spider Crab Cylinder as an appetizer; a choice of a main course between Stuffed turkey thigh with mushrooms and truffle in Pedro Ximénez, lamb ingot on cauliflower cream, Oven-baked sea bass on potato cream, or vegetable quiche; and the sweet note will be provided by a Tatin of macerated figs with coffee ice cream.
