Sotogrande and ARK Architects have introduced Villa VIDA, an innovative new residence situated within The 15, the most private and elevated enclave of La Gran Reserva in Sotogrande.
This project represents a new chapter in contemporary residential design, offering a thoughtful balance between architectural excellence and environmental integration.
Every element of Villa VIDA – from concept to landscaping and construction – has been approached holistically to create a residence that is coherent, environmentally responsible, and emotionally engaging. It is a space where light, materials, and nature interact seamlessly to deliver an experience that is both refined and grounded.
Bioarchitecture as a Living Philosophy
Villa VIDA has been developed following the principles of bioarchitecture, a design approach pioneered by ARK Architects. More than a construction methodology, it is a lifestyle philosophy that integrates nature, materials, emotion, and architectural vision into a singular language unique to ARK.
“Understanding luxury as spatial freedom, energy efficiency, sustainability, and, above all, a renewed connection with nature and heritage is what makes this project more than a home – it is timeless architecture,” says Manuel Ruiz Moriche, Creative Director of ARK Architects.
Designed for Efficiency and Energy Independence
Villa VIDA is designed to maintain a stable indoor climate – close to 21 °C – throughout the year, without the use of conventional air conditioning or environmentally harmful energy sources. Its construction prioritises thermal balance, natural ventilation, and solar orientation, achieving near-total energy self-sufficiency for much of the year.
A sophisticated home automation system manages lighting, temperature, and security via mobile devices, offering intelligent control and efficient energy use. The villa incorporates natural shading, daylight optimisation, high-efficiency lighting, and materials chosen for their environmental performance. These features contribute to a healthier, more sustainable way of living.
Environmental factors such as sunlight, wind, and terrain were carefully studied to inform the villa’s orientation and design, further enhancing passive energy performance and interior comfort.

Architecture with the Resident at Its Centre
Set on a 4,447.65 m² plot and offering over 2,300 m² of built space, Villa VIDA is the result of more than 25 years of ARK’s experience in designing landmark homes in destinations including Marbella, Abu Dhabi, New York, and Milan. Conceived by Manuel Ruiz Moriche, the home represents a personal vision rooted in a deep respect for nature and human-centred architecture.
“This home emerges from a philosophy of humanist architecture – a love for natural materials and their dialogue with light,” explains Ruiz Moriche. “Designing a house is about understanding the people who will live there, their lifestyle, the spatial flow, and the character of the place – including the strength of the Mediterranean light.”
Villa VIDA features seven suites – including a principal suite, guest suite, and staff accommodation – nine bathrooms, two swimming pools (an outdoor infinity pool and an indoor spa pool), a gym, wine cellar, study, and an underground garage with space for four vehicles.
Upon entering, a light-filled entrance hall reminiscent of an inner courtyard sets the tone. Stone, timber, and glass play off one another, while materials such as travertine, granite, limestone, and marble convey a sense of permanence and grounded elegance. The use of timber cladding and natural render further enhances the residence’s tactile appeal.
The main living area blurs the boundaries between inside and out, allowing landscape and architecture to coexist harmoniously. The kitchen, positioned at the heart of the home, combines premium materials with the latest technology, while the dining space continues the architectural language of calm continuity.
The principal suite on the upper level is conceived as a private retreat, with panoramic views, refined materials, and thoughtful detailing that foster introspection. The bathroom includes a handcrafted marble bath and smart showers, while a bespoke dressing room and study complete the suite.
The lower level houses a wellness space with spa, indoor pool, and gym, alongside a temperature-controlled wine cellar and generous garage – all executed with the same design precision as the main living areas. The property is listed at €12,500,000 + VAT.
A Singular Setting: The 15 in La Gran Reserva
Villa VIDA is located within The 15, one of Europe’s most exclusive residential communities, set at the highest point of La Gran Reserva in Sotogrande. Spanning 12 hectares with restricted access and perimeter security, the enclave offers privacy, peace, and commanding views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, and renowned golf courses such as La Reserva Club, Real Club Valderrama, and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.
Each of the fifteen villas is uniquely designed for privacy, optimal sun exposure, and a deep connection with the natural surroundings. Villa VIDA exemplifies this ethos through its integration with the landscape, inward courtyards, expansive glazing, terraces, and palette of natural materials – all of which create a subtle yet immersive connection between interior and exterior spaces.
Its proximity to high-quality amenities – including The Beach, Racquet & Leisure Club, La Reserva golf course, the international school, and the SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort – positions it as an ideal residence for those seeking both serenity and sophistication.
