Sotogrande, S.A. wins “Best ESG Progress Company” at the prestigious ASPRIMA-SIMA 2026 Awards

The ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards are the most prestigious recognitions in the Spanish real estate sector, celebrating the industry’s most outstanding initiatives while promoting innovation, sustainability, excellence, and best practices in construction and urban development.

The company strengthens its leadership in sustainability within the real estate sector through an award that recognizes excellence in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.

Sotogrande, S.A. has been awarded “Best ESG Progress Company” at the ASPRIMA-SIMA 2026 Awards, widely regarded as the most prestigious accolades in Spain’s real estate industry. The ceremony took place on May 21 at the Royal Tapestry Factory in Madrid, bringing together leading companies, institutions, and professionals from across the national real estate sector.
The award was received by Rita Jordao, Marketing Director of Sotogrande, S.A., who stated:

“This recognition highlights Sotogrande’s progress in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into our management model. Sustainability has been at the core of Sotogrande since its inception, and today we are consolidating a strategy focused on sustainable development, transparency, and long-term value creation.”

A pioneering philosophy for over six decades

Sustainability has been embedded in Sotogrande’s DNA since its creation. Under the vision of its founder, Joseph McMicking, the project began more than sixty years ago with a forward-thinking approach that was virtually unheard of at the time in urban planning and real estate development: low density, landscape integration, and a deep respect for the natural environment.
Today, that legacy has evolved into a more structured and measurable model, aligned with the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges—while preserving its original commitment to balancing development, landscape, and quality of life.

A future-focused, sustainable management model

A major milestone in the company’s ESG journey came in August 2024, when Sotogrande launched its ESG Sustainability Strategic Plan with a 2030 vision. Since then, sustainability has evolved from being primarily a reporting exercise to becoming a transversal pillar across management and decision-making processes.
The company has strengthened its governance, monitoring, and control systems, progressing towards alignment with key international frameworks such as the UN Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
In parallel, Sotogrande has driven initiatives focused on enhancing energy efficiency, intelligent water management, circular economy practices, employee wellbeing, and impactful social and territorial actions.
“At Sotogrande, we believe that building better also means building responsibly—preserving the balance between development, landscape, and quality of life,” added Rita Jordao.

Strengthening its position as a European benchmark

With this national recognition, Sotogrande reinforces its position as one of Europe’s leading residential and real estate destinations, demonstrating that sustainability, excellence, and long-term vision can successfully go hand in hand.
