Robert Kmita was appointed Director General of SO/Sotogrande Resort & Spa, which will open for business in 2021 on the Costa del Sol, between Marbella and Gibraltar. Kmita, who is Danish, will supervise activities at the luxury lifestyle hotel in line with the standards of the SO/ brand, which is one of the most avant-garde within the Accor high end portfolio, merging the vibrant energy of local life with creative dining experiences and modern, luxury service.
Kmita will be in charge of maximising financial performance, boosting customer satisfaction and highlighting the value of Heartist culture, with a focus on staff development and commitment. Leading the hotel’s opening and positioning the SO/ brand in the local community, Kmita will report to Xavier Rugeroni, Accor’s Regional Vice-president for Spain, Monaco, Italy and Portugal.
“His attention to detail, sophistication and experience in the luxury sector, along with his energy, will be key to making the hotel Sotogrande’s “in” place to be and capturing SO/’’s rebel luxury to take exclusivity to the next level”, said Marc Dardenne, Operations Director for Accor’s luxury brands in Europe.
After years in international management roles in F&B at Hyatt in Egypt, Hong Kong, Chicago, Thailand and Argentina, Robert started work as manager of the Hamburg Fairmont in 2017. He took part in various projects and was stand-in general manager of the Raffles Europejski, in Warsaw. He holds a degree in hotel management from Les Roches University in Marbella, and graduated in the class of 2019 from Accor’s International Hotel Management Programme.
SO/Sotogrande Resort & Spa, with 152 rooms, will be the brand’s first hotel in Spain, and will present a fascinating combination of social spaces, exclusive experiences and distinctive “Just Say SO” services celebrating Mediterranean culture.
