Sotogrande has been embracing its 60 years of history in 2023 – its diamond anniversary year – with a raft of events and celebrations to commemorate the milestone. Most recently, the Ayala Polo Club hosted a father and son polo tournament, bringing families together to enjoy the sport that is so synonymous with Sotogrande underneath the beautiful Andalucian sunshine.

The Ayala Polo Club dates back to 1965, and since then has become a world-renowned polo venue with riders travelling from all over the world to play on the seven available grounds. Ayala Polo Club, described as the “Wimbledon of polo pitches”, is acknowledged as one of only four premier polo venues worldwide. It is a premier hospitality venue on the Costa del Sol and hosts the International Polo Tournament each year, a five-week sporting tournament of the highest calibre that runs through July and August.

The father and son polo tournament was a huge success with activities available for all the family to enjoy. Whilst the matches were being played, children could paint the Sotogrande 60th anniversary logo as a souvenir from the day. Following the matches, there was an Argentinian barbeque that was accompanied with a live band, creating a wonderful atmosphere at the club into the evening.

On a perfectly sunny day, this event was the perfect occasion, bringing together families and friends from the area in celebration of Sotogrande’s heritage and its 60th anniversary.
